Student Code of Conduct
Our goal in discipline is to train children to follow Christian principles not only in school, but for the rest of their lives. In keeping with this principle, BCA has a system of discipline that allows us to give consistent feedback to students on their behavior. The goal of this feedback is that the student will be able to recognize behavior that needs to be corrected and make the appropriate corrections. It is not enough just to recognize behaviors that are wrong, but to replace those behaviors with things that are correct and good according the Scriptures. Conduct guidelines differ and are age appropriate for each grade.
While we as a school participate with each family in this endeavor, we recognize that the primary responsibility for discipline lies with parents. In light of that statement, parents will always be informed of disciplinary action that has been taken with their children. Please feel free to contact the school at any time you do not understand or have questions on a discipline problem at school. BCA's Student Conduct for each student:
-
I will treat my fellow students and my teachers the way that I want to be treated.
-
I will use my words to build up others around me, and not tear them down.
-
I will dress according to the principles and standards laid out in the student handbook.
-
I will fulfill the academic obligations that I have for each class, including completing all homework assignments, handing in reports and projects on time, and studying for all quizzes and tests.
-
I will treat each classroom as a place to learn and grow, both academically and spiritually, and will refrain from behaviors which distract others from learning and growing.
-
I will be kind and courteous at all times and use proper manners toward students and adults.
-
I will not participate in any discussions that Jesus Christ could not be a part of if He were here.
-
I will refrain from chewing gum, or eating hard candy before, during or after school.
-
If in doubt, I will do what I think Jesus Christ would do.
Dress Code
Our goal is to provide an environment which glorifies God and encourages personal holiness. We define personal holiness as striving to be like our Lord Jesus Christ in humility, meekness, modesty, self-denial, self-control, longsuffering, gentleness, patience, love of others, and purity of heart. Our desire is for our children to dress and conduct themselves in a manner that is pleasing to God and points others to Christ. A person’s behavior, dress, and physical appearance are very important since they tend to reflect the inner thoughts of the heart. While we realize that the Bible does not specifically tell us how we should dress or how our hair should be cut, it does give us general principles that we should follow. In light of these principles, we must set an institutional standard for our school. Our intention with this standard is not to say that a Christian who fails to
meet our standards is necessarily sinning, but that our students must meet this standard in order for us to have a consistent learning environment and not be a distraction to others. The principle that we use in determining our dress code are:
-
Modesty (1 Timothy 2:9,10; 2 Timothy 2:21,22; 1 Peter 3:3,4; 1 Corinthians 6:19,20). Christian men and women are admonished to dress in a manner that personifies the principle that we are the temple of God. Our dress should show sensitivity to the spiritual and moral well-being of those who see us. It should also reflect a desire to glorify God in a manner that is not vain, prideful, bold or forward.
-
Distinction (Genesis 1:27; Deuteronomy 22:5). Scriptures teach us that God created us different. The way that we dress should reflect the fact that God created us male and female.
-
Identification (James 4:4; Romans 12:1,2; 1 John 2:15, 16). God expects His people to declare plainly through our appearance, attitude, associations and actions that we are different from the world; in the world, but not of it.
-
Appropriateness (1 Corinthians 14:40; 10:31). This principle recognizes the way we dress does affect the way we act. A neat appearance promotes a better learning attitude.
See specific guidelines for dress code in our Student Handbook available through the school office.
Discrimination Policy
Baldwinsville Christian Academy admits students of any race, color, national or ethnic origin to the rights, privileges, programs, or activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It further does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin in the administration of its educational policies and programs. |

BCA has been a real asset to our family as we seek to instruct and train our children in the love and admonition of the Lord. The teachers have a genuine love for our Lord and Savior that transfers into a genuine love for our children's souls and care and concern to invest in their present both spiritually and educationally, as well as in the assisting their future effectiveness and usefulness. I also love the high academic standards as well as the parental involvement that is welcomed. My children have been growing in wisdom and stature, educationally and spiritually because of the ministry of those at BCA. Thank you ~ BCA parent
